We need rain of that there is no doubt. We have been running at less that 3 inches since the ends of May, currently we are now at 1 inch. The current height does mean that some fish have moved into the lowest part of the river, helped by recent high tides, but without significant rain there will be little change in the immediate future. As we move into September and the water cools we might see more fish trying to push up the river as the urge to spawn stirs the fish up.
If you are visiting us between now and the end of the season, bring light tackle and small flies. Size 16 or even 18's have caught many of our recent fish in the very low conditions, a few wake flies would not go a miss either.
Tight lines to you all.
