We start our first full week of the season on Monday.
The river looks As though its had a decent rise in levels over the weekend. The water temperature has been hovering around the low 40s Fahrenheit, (5c) over the new year. This is warmer than we would normally expect for early January so any fish entering the system will need little encouragement to push through the the lower beats.
The weather this coming week looks like colder weather is on its way from the north at the start of the week with brisk north westerly winds, something of a slightly warmer feel is coming back towards the end of the week.
Anyone hardy enough to brave the caithness winter would thoroughly deserve an early fish.
